El Amazonas se incendia y el mundo grita por su salvación

¡El pulmón más grande del mundo está en llamas!

El Amazonas sufre el incendio más grande en su historia y apenas hace unos días el mundo se enteró de la tragedia. Aunque se sabe que es una selva húmeda y que por consiguiente sería imposible que se propagara el fuego, desde el año pasado ha aumentado la tala en el lugar, lo que actualmente ha provocado que se extiendan las llamas.

Todo esto tiene un porqué, y es que como poco se sabe, la ganadería se ha convertido en una de las principales causas de deforestación, esto con el fin de cultivar; los principales causantes son los ganaderos, quienes inician incendios para limpiar el terreno y utilizarlo como área de pastoreo.

Esta situación ha creado gran indignación contra el presidente de Brasil, Jair Bolsonaro, pues se asegura que el mandatario está plenamente enterado de la tragedia, pero no ha hecho nada para detenerla.

¿En qué nos afecta?

Tenemos que contarte que, como te lo dijimos al principio, el Amazonas es el pulmón más grande del planeta y su desaparición afectaría considerablemente a la producción del 20% de oxígeno.

El 17 y 20% del agua potable del planeta está en riesgo y eso significaría demasiado; créeme, no querrás morir por no tener agua para tomar.

The fires are near impossible to put out. People keep asking me why there isn’t rain to stop the fires… and although the answer (below) is complicated, it’s extremely important. The rivers of the sky are drying… and it is our doing. «The forests cause the rainfall, and if they weren’t there the interior of these continental areas would be deserts.» Massive tropical deforestation is disrupting the movement of water in the atmosphere, causing major shifts in precipitation that could lead to drought both locally and abroad. Every tree in the forest is a fountain, sucking water out of the ground through its roots and releasing water vapor into the atmosphere through pores in its foliage. In their billions, they create giant rivers of water in the air – rivers that form clouds and create rainfall hundreds or even thousands of miles away. The impact of deforestation on rainfall is one of the most important non-carbon effects on climate change. As we shave the planet of trees, we risk drying up these aerial rivers and the lands that depend on them for rain. Lost forests are usually replaced by agriculture, which produces its own emissions. Add in these impacts and the real contribution of deforestation to global climate warming grows substantially, both in heat and drought. In the Amazon, Michael Coe reported a difference of 3 degrees Celsius (5.4°F) between the cool of the forested Xingu indigenous park and surrounding croplands and pastures… Those of you who live abroad and think this may not affect you…. think again. The Amazon provides moisture as far as the Midwestern U.S., which gets 50 percent of its rainfall from water evaporating from land. Not to mention, these forests are literally the lungs of our entire planet. Además, con este incendio el 20% de la biodiversidad del planeta está en riesgo. De por sí el planeta ya sufre la extinción de miles de especies, y con esto se agravaría más la situación.
